sums it up, the new engine isn't proven!! hence why they still use the old one, tried and tested. Porsche used to be proud in saying that when you bought a gt3/rs you were driving a race car on the street that you could take to the track and customers also liked that idea,it had a rich history and kudos that you were signing into.....at the moment seems it's a Carrera with a few bits and bobs and a spoiler! that's not up to the task.

yup...but remember what I told you yesterday or the day before "hold your breath"..and now the car cant even be driven.

To make it more dramatic: there are no parts in the porsche centre that could be put into the car tomorrow..I guess it will take months until they are back on the road..with -30% in value of course..and no - I wont buy one then either.

Ok, just for the sake of argument, how the hell do you know what parts Porsche has in their warehouse? Or how long it will take?
Yes, the car has taken a value hit. It probably will rebound. Besides this one snafu, the car is a screamer on the track. If you have a turbo or other studly car, you can't hang with this thing. It's serious when they get it good.

We'll see naysayers. I'm still hearing it is not an internal part. Recall was for safety and being handled quickly and thoroughly as it should.

I doubt this affects value any more than the old GT 3 issues with center locks and spewing coolant.....conditions that affected far more than the two confirmed BBQs.

Except beating every performance record of the outgoing car. Pretty sweet bobs and spoiler if you ask me.

I don't disagree with what your saying but I would hate to have the feeling it will let me down. I guess we have all become used to a pretty much rock solid build quality, the problem with these issues it will always put people on the back foot......as you say your only as good as your last job and that was the 4.0! maybe they should put the whole gt3/rs programme on hold and re launch with a clean slate and let this fade away......more so before my rs turns up!! don't need cosmetic and engine issues this time round....roll on huracan.

I think your thinking is too short sighted... For starters, Porsche have confirmed that they are investigating the issue thus the problem has not been identified... Leaky tubes and joints are a guess at best.

Then you have failed to consider that 90% of cars now having been recalled have not even completed their break in and issues have arisen. What makes you sure that no further issues will arise??? Failed rods after 10k kms? Pistons out of blocks? etc etc... The engine is unproven and obviously they aren't given too hard a time in testing or these issues would be ironed out well before release.

It seems to me that too many people are burying their heads in the sand and failing to realise that the long term prognosis for this car is unknown? Based on its limited history, it hasn't gotten off to a great start...

At least the old leaky GT3s of old ran engines and gear that allowed the cars to complete 24 hour enduros on slicks with race cars driven by real racing car drivers at 10/10ths... They were proven despite their faults. The new cars haven't been able to complete break in at the hands of common folk... Speaks volumes to anyone not drinking Porsche Koolaid... Just saying

For the most part Nikolas, you are the cheerleader screaming win no matter the score. Understood. I don't think anyone here thinks that Porsche won't get it right. But I've owned a hundred 911's, and the damn last thing I want is to think my car might catch on fire! It's easy for you to sit on the sideline doing high kicks and not be an owner of a burnt car. I don't care whether it's the motor or a plastic bracket, a fire is a fire. I would like you to get on the track and buckle your kid in the passenger seat real tight and go heat up the car. Then tell me you aren't worried about a fire.

What bothers me more, is that Mathias was quoted in the press release mentioning how many cars they would sell and that their goal was 200k cars. Without a doubt, that clearly tells me what's the problem! That's why they didn't make the damn manual. The goal is numbers and he preaches it on a crapper and on safety press bulletins. Their goal is no longer quality. It's numbers. It's numbers. It's numbers. They tell you daily over and over.

totally agree with you cole, you and I have chatted before and I also have driven many gt3/rs over the years and believe the company is being pushed in the wrong direction where numbers are concerned, as ive said before the ''gt3'' model is what Porsche is all about and there racing heritage will literally go up in flames if they put euro's before quality!!I for one will consider going forward with the rs......when anyone makes a purchase of that cost on a product know matter there wealth with a company such as Porsche the last thing that enters your mind are these sort of issues.....watch race teams jump ship that will be next. there's a lot of good gt cars out there now, maclaren, Ferrari 458 and not to far down the road the new lambo huracan. vw to blame here, to many products being pushed out of the door!!
