Setting up the timing blocks:

Timing the cam shafts:

The intake manifold, wiring harness and all aux. components installed back on the engine:

The transmission is installed with the LWF and clutch upgrade (a Guard LSD is also fitted):

Back into the engine compartment:

All the fluids are put in as well as the intake:

We did say this project was a track car and hence the Shark Werks Track Exhaust is installed:

From the bottom that's now a very nice clean 3.9L engine ready to make some noise!

A look at that 3-Way Ohlins set up:

Two racing seasons later on the RSS links and still going strong!

With her HRE P40 Wheels on she's ready to be broken in:

She'll be off to TC Design for one of their slick roll cages as well as coming back for a factory RS tail:

This 2008 997GT3 was shipped to us from Florida with one intent: to become track-weapon. With that mission in mind we set about performing our SharkWerks 3.9 engine upgrade along with the Ex-Tech suspension system and RSS links.

Here she is on the chopping block:

A few belly panels and the sub frame removed:

Parts starting to pile-up:

And out comes the motor and transmission:

There it is:

And separated from the transmission:

Alex I believe you forgot to show this pic. When the belly pans were removed, we found a stowaway. Hopefully this little guy wasn't carrying the black death. As a friend said, "He probably had the ride of his life". Most rats are lucky to hitch a ride on a Cayman or a 996.

jokes aside, that build you guys just layed down above is really amazing. I love that car - suspension must just be a dream on track. What a nice clean engine build and the pics really are great to look at. thanks for posting sharky.

Also, I didn't know that Sharkwerks sold Exe-Tc suspension; I'd like to get your thoughts on this setup as I've heard great things about them.

Hi Nan indeed This car is getting them and I'll have a full update. We've done JRZ, Moton and Ohlins over the years but nothing excites me like this set up yet

The engine now goes into James' engine room and is ready for the tear down:

Fluids are all out and although it has 20K on it this engine is mighty clean:

Stripping the top-soil including the intake manifold:

Getting there!

Taking a step AWAY from the engine stuff for a bit this is where we separate the men from the boys guys. All business here, no silly purple, blue or pink springs and hardware here... This is the EXE-TC stuff as set up by Gavin@Autoquest:

Having heard and read so much about this particular set up (Chris Harris etc...) I'm really looking forward to seeing this in action....
