my sources inform me ,this will be the last season to see 997 gt3 cup cars this year! and 991 cars racing in supercup 2013,will see stock gt3 at geneva march 2013,possible 991rs at frankfurt in september. also heard a whisper that 991 will only offer one body shell for all models due to the amount of investment that has been pumped into the new car,you could argue how wide could it go for general road use, that may answer where does the standard gt3 sit or needed, as cup cars have been useing the wide body up to now,we may at long last see some body design ,fenders etc on the rs to make it stand alone,if only one shell is used, guess we will only find out when the 4 wheel drive cars appear!
By the way, if this were really the case, 991GT3s would already be thrown 24h around the track..for testing purposes etc...you dont develop a new engine for racing in 3-6 month..
With regard to the bodyshell, seems logic ..could be true..but we will see..

exactly..

Todays sport cars are already on a quite high level..and differences of 3-4 seconds for example around the Nürburgring could only be "experienced" by less than 5% of its owners..my prediction..

so sorry just a englishman talking our english!my source regarding the 2013 cup cars happens to be one of the team owners, from 2013 the supercup will be running 991 gt3 cars, unless he has been told the wrong information, the pictures we see of the mule car will have the new engine, and it will give the motersport dept a years worth of testing before we see it in april 2013 for the f1 season.the porsche team we are involved with regarding our sponsorship are moving forward on this basis,so i can only base this on what we are told, which sits right with the launch of the gt3 road car at geneva in march 2013 prior to the april season starting. but as we all know the stuff we here is only speculation!!

Well, what you write may sound very credible - but I have a different info - this info is coming directly from the manafacturer..I have something in written. But I will not say more here..if you want more info then pm me. But again, Porsche offially said already that the new 997 GT3RSR will also make the 2013 season. No 991 GT3 will reach its customers before end of 2013. A first small internal series for Porsche will be ready in roughly June 2013.
I wont say more and ask your source again - confront him with the officially made statements..
take care,
