Where does the 997 GT2 fall in?

I agree with what many have already said. I have owned mine for only 6 months and it is very easy to lose control if you give more than 1/3 throttle when the wheel is turned outside the 11 to 1 o'clock range. That's why you should have the yellow strip at 12o'clock on your steering wheel.
The GT3 RS in comparison to a 2 is a tiny bit lighter and crisper in steering. It also is much easier to drive at the limit, greater rev range and much louder exhuast note. It lacks the torque of the 2 and straigt line speed but most would be satisfied.
I picked the 2 over the 3RS because it was an unbelievable deal that I could not walk away from and much more rare as was mentioned before.
I would of been very happy with either car and I have no regrets getting the 2.
Have a lwfw race clutch and suspension upgrades coming soon that will really transform this car. Cant wait!

i was talking about the gt3 and the rs as well.
i know the diff between the 911 variants, i was just more curious as to why people seem to have more of an emotional attatchment to their gt3s as opposed to gt2 owners.

If the pricing was the same I'd still rather have the GT3RS 4.0, but that being said if these tank down to 150k I can't help but be intrigued as this still is one exceptional Porsche!

The linearity and immediacy of the GT3 is what makes it such a great dancing partner, for all the reasons very ably described above.

I seem to have forgotten.
Technically, it was the question and how it was asked. Once you've owned a GT3, you don't NEED to ask the question.
Glad to see that Stoppie dude posting again.
