RS 4.0 allocation available to spec
#23
I'm betting there are people who are going to pay over MSRP. Someone local to me got nailed by the "other" of two dealerships here - aka the one who never fails to ask over MSRP - to the tune of 35k on a 3.8 RS last May. Shittiest part is they didn't tell him they were going to charge over sticker until the car was on the way over. But, that is the way they do business at all of their stores.

I know of several people who paid over sticker for the GT2RS. They admitted it.

That's what I failed to include in my comment...How Much Over? For a $185K+ car, I'm sure some premiums will be paid...but to what extent? Every market & dealer is different, but I'm just wondering if the open allocation is because of their markup, or could it simply be because someone bailed? I met a guy in SF last month that was trying to decide between a MP4-12C and the 4.0. Could be similar situation here that the buyer decided to put the money elsewhere.

I'm going to be brutal; a few thousand over sticker, maybe even 10k - for a 4.0? The last of it's breed? Otherwise you go to a NON manual McLaren?
Do not pass go. Go directly to 'I'm a fvcking idiot' jail and sit there and rot.
That 4.0 is the ultimate visceral road going 997 there is. Want the car to pat your butt and do it 'for you'? Go get a McLaren.
(you know I'm not talking to you directly Dallas, just to anyone who's brain functions that way)

Actually mang... there are people who CLEARLY could give to shits. They'd rather poke themselves with an ice pick then worry over money.
Are they idiots? Subjective. But they sure do have a LOT of money...and statistically speaking- those who PAY the most, are the happiest. Those ppl who nickle and dime? They're typically miserable people- not always; but most of the time.
that's not fiction; numerous studies have proven it.

The 4.0 shows you know what you're talking about, know what you want an don't give a rats a$$ what anyone thinks. The McLaren shows you have the means but not necessarily the experience to know the value in the 4.0.
But that's just my humble support for the 911 legacy. I'm not arrogant enough to suggest that I'd turn down a MP4!
