5 seconds is normally huge but (IMO) on the Nordschleife (21km and 154 turns) I don’t think its that big....

It is huge. Consider each car is being driven to their absolute limits, and over the course of 21km, a 5 second gap is made. Just search for some videos on youtube with 'Ring records overlaying each other, and see how hard each driver tries to get the absolute best time they can, but the fact is they just stay so close (besides, many pro 'Ring drivers say ANY significant time deduction under the 7:30 minute mark is remarkable). I bet the driver of the RS 4.0 was getting consistently around 7:29. BTW, 7:29 was the time for the GT2 RS prototype, but that was in traffic.

I have met Michael Vergers a few time (He holds the Ring record for a "street legal" car) and to him 0.01 sec. is huge... why cause he is going for a record, going against other race drivers etc
But for a production car oriented towards the enthusiast 5 seconds over 21km and 154 turns is not much.
