Thanks for sharing that experience with us! I'm glad to see some people are actually using their Carrera GTs out there

I also had no idea that Michellin was coming out with new tires. I'd made the switch from PS2s to RE050A's but now I'm happy to know there are worthy alternatives!

great write up and great to see you enjoying your CGT !

...although your anecdotal experience with the GTO was just that...anecdotal. For example, last week I ran the CGT against my GTO being driven by a pro race car driver....it wasn't close as you would expect...the GTO was miles ahead and the performance absolutely shattering.

Having compared my CGT and GTO back to back, I would say the performance is very close, with the GTO being marginally quicker...but its just an isolated experience

P.S Neither car is being booted from the garage anytime soon, both wonderful rides that check all the sensory stimulus boxes. For me, personally, it joins the CGT and F40 as a "keeper"...

One final anecdote....both the CGT and GTO ran identical 1 min 19.8 sec laps on the Top Gear track, identical dry conditions, driven by The Stig

Probably the closest thing to a comparison test yet

With the GTO on far superior Michelin Pilot Supersports compared to the CGT's Michelin Pilot Sport 2

i love it too , but was not getting to grips with it in the cgt . i was arriving a little faster than expected and braking too hard / getting it wrong .

i spoke to a porsche racer regarding these tyres and the thinks around 10 seconds off the ring time !

Rufmd , I dont want to get into a this car is better / worse than that car debate . Please bare in mind the cgt's tyres were designed in 2001/2 . The gto is a very special car , a wonderful feat of engineering but it will not be able to match a cgt around somewhere like spa . the gto is at the end of the day a 599 extreme edition and is thus compromised from the onset . turning a gt car into a track car will never be as successful as turning a le mans racer into a track car .

If you didnt need to drive the cgt on the road and could lower it enough to take advantage of the ground effects and put it on cups / hoosiers it would be untouchable in the right hands .
A friend of mine ( also a member ) too much of a gentleman to blow his own trumpet , runs his car on slicks . I have it on good authority that his times are basically those of a 997 cup racer .

rejoice in your wonderful stable
