I love the idea.

But it looks like the 918 to me, but without the crazy hybrid drivetrain, and will be 1/3 the price of the 918.

So why would anyone buy the 918 then?

I think it needs to surpass the competition in performance, and be no higher in price to take over the segment. Ferrari and McLaren are seen as higher-end marques. To get a cross-shopper into the Porsche, the car itself must be superior. Uphill battle, but I have no doubt Porsche can do it.

me thinks it's a CGT replacement.

I'd not be surprised if it was dubbed.

From the sounds of it (and my own speculation) price wise I would expect it to be near the current 911 price point and use a majority of the same interior pieces. Engine wise I think it will use the same specs as the 911 as well, to save development costs and tooling for production. The trade off for or the argument for this will be that the rear seat is now out-moded reducing the 'every-day-supercar' mantra that the 911 has. The trade does increase the dynamics portion of the new car though so it will be essentially a 'new 911 version' that is near the same price and gets rid of the GT3 or GT2 and their respective RS versions, allowing room for future special versions.

I can think of something else that's "seriously retarded"...

Okay, time to make a "Nobody will buy it unless it comes with a manual transmission" petition thread! Sure, PDK can be optional, but we want a MANUAL, Porsche! Manual!
