More than likely this car will share the same platform as the new Gallardo and R8. Question: Will it's performance ultimately rival that of the 918?

I think we have all known for a very long time that the 911 rear-engine design was seriously flawed, but too many old timer Porsche lovers demanded their rear seat space. This has seriously retarded Porsche's future modern car development.

Many of us knew that the Porsche 918 platform design would eventually replace the 911 platform as being the Porsche marque's flagship chassis. I can't wait!!!!

 

918 is replacing the 911... Don't know about that.

 

Looks good to me. I'm surprised they would announce anything on this prior to selling out the 918. Why unless it will still be in the 500k range and why would they call it a 458 competiter if it's price way higher. This will entice people away from the 918. Looks great in the pics and so far no word of batteries. But hey I like everything about Porsche

 

Unless, of course, you order the 997 458 Limited Edition . . . in which case you already have sort of a 458 rival.
