What Would You Do? Trade Speedster for GT2 RS?
Last year I could not find an order for a 2 RS at MSRP -- partly due to my own procastination and partly to dealers hoping to score big over MSRP.
When I finally lost enthusiasm for the 2RS, a 2011 Speedster at MSRP came my way. It wasn't my first choice nor was i that enamoured with the Speedster -- no manual tran, heavy, lot's of frills. But it is a Speedster, man! And it might be a fun riping around in it, taking my wife for dinner, or cruising up north to my fishing cabin, or letting my wife take it golfing and tenniss. Etc.
Flash foward 6 months and one of the Porsche dealers that turned me down for a GTRS NOW wants to trade his GT2 RS for my Speedster. I would be required to pay $27K plus the Speedster to get the GT2 RS.
RS has about a $262ish window sticker. Has been titled with 300 miles.
At first I almost jumped on the deal and now not so sure. I wuld rather have the RS, price being equal, but it seems the Speedster will hold its value better. Could be way off base as I have never been able to read the tea leaves.
Any thoughts guys and girls? Thanks!

That's a pretty tough call. I personally would take the 2RS all day, but I see your point about the Speedster being a bit more user friendly and possibly having stronger resale. So you haven't taken delivery of the Speedster yet?

They are two completely different cars!!!
It depends on how/what you use them for!!!
Pricewise: be very careful: around here Speedsters are very requested models. If you find one the price is higher than e new GT2RS...
So if you decide to swap your Speedster you should tell your dealer HE should add 27K on top of his Rs instead....

How about this, tell your dealer you give him the speedster, and he gives you a base GT3 and a GTS Cab, both for the price of your car, maybe you pay that extra $27k... You'll get your racer, your wife her cab, and you can drive hers too
)) or just be cool and keep YOUR speedster and tell him to "buzz" off... If he were a gentleman dealer, he'd offer you the used/titled GT2RS without asking for that extra $27k...

My dealer would for sure... Out of experience... Especially when he knows you are a repeat Porsche client...

I prefer the performance aspect of the RS. However, Porsche, in my opinion, overplayed their hand in pricing the RS to the moon. Speedsters, while also priced too high, still seem to be more in demand than the RS. IMHO, of course. Very few Speedsters in the states yet so we will know more about the market soon. Mine will be here in a few weeks.
Price being equal I would take the RS. Thus, if dealer offered me a straight trade I would take it.

I just end up getting f&cked -- if I'm lucky!
