Awesome, my wife is on this same page...maybe later in life when I am a little older and making a little more I can post this same awesomeness!!

I did a full wrap on my car. The carbon is clear coated from the factory so applying film is no different than for paint.

Congrats on the new car!

+1. I wonder why the manual says not to wax or protect it?

Here is a pic with the film on. You lose the matte effect though. I don't mind either, but this ensures my hood is safe

That isn't a scratch on the film by the way.

You could probably keep the matte look on the carbon by wrapping it with Premier Satin Guard. Looks great glossy on your car too Mike.

Thanks Ara. I do prefer it like this TBH. They don't have satin guard here. The closest clear matte I could find was $200USD per sq foot - needless to say, I passed

That is correct. Satin Guard™ is designed to be two tone. In low lighting conditions, the film would look mattish, and in direct sunlight the satin sheen shines through. Applying traditional paint protection film add gloss to the matte gel coat on the GT2 RS's hood.

Satin Guard™ unlike matte and "satin" vinyls on the market, it does have protective capabilities. Traditional vinyl is between 1.5-2.5 mils thick vs. Satin Guard™ at 8 mils thick (0.008"). The film is extremely durable from heat, cold, and the elements, which makes cleaning of the panel covered much easier.

For those outside of California, you can purchase Satin Guard™ to have your clear bra installer perform the application. Cost of the Satin Guard™ is at $9.90 / sq ft + shipping. Contact us for those who are interested in it.

Keep an eye out for our thread posted above with the Satin Guard™ applied to the full vehicle of the '11 GT2 RS!
