A Classic Silver 996 GT3 gets track-prepped @ SharkWerks

This classic silver 2004 996 GT3 came into us for some power, suspension and interior safety equipment for the upcoming track season. For power we tuned the ECU with the EVOMSit software calibrated for 91 octane and combined it with a Tubi Exhaust. Armed with RSS suspension links in the rear, a TCD Rollbar and Brembo Type III rotors she's very track worthy...

In she comes for surgery:

First things first, the factory sport seats are somewhat supportive but certainly not ideal for track duty and 6-point harnesses so out they come:

Once removed you can see TC Design roll bar (just like the one we have in NOPSM) which is welded in. The rear visibility is also not impaired due to the smart design.

TC Design is known throughout the track-warrior scene for engineering superb quality bars and roll cages:

Still in the interior, the EVO Pedal kit provides better traction:

The interior is put back together with factory Euro Porsche GT3 seats, Schroth 6-point harnesses:

The SharkWerks Fire Extinguisher kit is also installed along with a wrinkle-black extinguisher:

With the ECU removed we set about calibrating the ECU with the EVOMSit software tuned for 91 octane:

A shot of the factory (and heavier) exhaust in the background vs the Tubi System waiting to be installed:

The Tubi System is installed along with a decent weight saving (saves about 24 pounds) on the rear of the car:

Another view of the nicely-polished exhaust cans:

Over to the suspension now. A shot of the factory rear links before replacement:

The RSS/SharkWerks adjustable rear link (aka Dog Bone) kit goes on first:

Also in the rear the RSS Toe-steer bump/steer kit is installed:

This kit is used to correctly adjust the toe steer geometry on lowered cars, and replaces the inner bushing with a steel monoball, improving handling and road feel. The Toe no longer moves around due to the lock-out plates:

Due to the intended track use the factory PCCB's just aren't economically viable as far as replacement goes and so the Brembo Type III (72 vein) rotors were chosen:

Ready to go home (aka the track):

Should sing with those Tubis! Great preparation and I'm sure that the owner would love it even more.
