It's supposed to remind you of the old Can-Am cars and 917 prototypes. Not sure it does anything, although I'm sure Porsche will claim it cools the suspension or something.

True. Still, it seems like Porsche management (VW) is adamant on taking attention away from the "911" models again ... the same thing happened with the 928, and that went SO well.

That stuff works for cars like the Panamera and Cayenne, but I think the guys lusting after Porsche sportscars are lusting after 911s. I could be wrong.
