back from 2nd time up the mountain with the CGT........ its been a busy car month....
im sort of used to the around town PITA character of the CGT now, which is slow and deliberately cautious. Sucks in the city.
While in the mountains its weird too.
Its a little soft feeling but no body roll at the same time, so u dont know how much lean u can press in the corners, im maybe driving 75% of my normal speed just trying to get used to it. Its pretty easy to drive smoothly, but im not brave enough to attack it like i do with fcars or even my once scary GT2, which are so easy to set record times right off the bat.
this month i started off driving the 612 a lot, then the 458 came which is really the best all around car today and beyond, its just perfect.
Then the CGT shocked me with the inability to cruise along rewardingly, so i went back to the scud just an hour ago.
I was shocked at how easy it is to go around traffic and i feel like im driving a civic with good power or something.
It actually feels better than my daily driver coming immediately from the CGT!
i was wondering why pedestrians and other motorists were looking at me, then i realized im in a bright ferrari, but i feel like im driving some econo-box because its just so easy and care free, i be comfortable leaving it on the sidewalk!!
The CGT/612/458 really makes u feel u r driving something special, especially the CGT where everyone not only stares but comes up to ask u questions, and the way u REALLY have to work on the simple things such as getting away from a stop sign or making a simple right turn without killing pedestrians at snail pace takes all ur concentration.
The scud feels like a DD u can go anywhere do anything and more. Its even a better DD than the 458.
While the CGT is not a car u wanna be bothered by radio controls or carrying a cell phone that might ring. Its a car made for working ur a$$ off JUST DRIVING, NOT from point A to point B. I will never go to the store, dinner, movies, or pick up chicks in this. Its a PITA if u do.
However, I will just hit the mountains right after i leave my gate and straight back after im about to run out of adrenaline, no stopping in between!
I see the magic now just on the 2nd day of ownership, but u dont have to believe this illusion. Magic = Illusion.
Why everybody thinks that a challenging and super involving car has to drive like a CGT is good??, i dont know.
Especially it comes from the same company who makes GREAT DRIVING cars like the GT3 and 2RSs baffles me.
The fcars are way ahead in the making u feel like superman experience game, why make a car that pisses u off when u just wanna go around the block??
Whats even more baffling, only some one thousand plus owners in da world has this hard to drive car, but millions stand up and defend it when i said its a POS around town???!!! Im an owner!!! so im glad millions out there are helping with my resale value tremendously!!! haha!!
Many already argued under my threads, im not offended or happy by any, just curious why porsche went a route that nobody asked.
If porsche did lose money making the CGT, im not even surprised, i went on a photoshoot run and will show u the results in addition to kuzi/atomic's pictures on why this mofo is so costly.
No point really, but just assuring the owners that they paid good money for something very special, nobody mentioned anything about it being fast or easy to go fast, i think its an old version of a veyron that actually handles and with lots more soul.
Some pictures before a detailed interior shoot and a new beast! :

The C-GT was originally intended to be a Le Mans prototype. I believe a rules change and a change in direction for the company meant less funding for racing, so they used the development up to that point and made it a street car instead.

it makes ur GT2 feel like a lazyboy.
i do enjoy it in the mountains though.

Zamirz: For some reason Wendelin cancelled the project and told them to put the engine in a roadcar. That's probably why it's so hard to drive.
I am glad to see though that you are enjoying it the correct way.

I can't help but feel that your opinion of the car is just a matter of expectations on what constitutes a great car, something like what PMac said in the other thread.
My view is that any supercar, or any proper sports car, shouldn't be bothered with radio controls, cell phones, and other distractions. Going to the store, dinner, movies, and picking up chicks just all seem very peripheral to the true use of the CGT. It's not like there aren't many supercars that have been almost tailor-made to serve that sort of purpose: 599, R8, Vantage, 911, Bentley, etc. The primary appeal in the CGT is its raw and purist nature...it's not an easy or comfortable ride like those other cars because that's not its intended purpose, in my opinion.

Enjoy and congratulations!
