Is it too late in the game for the GT3RS now??
I been offered this brand new white/red rims RS by the dealer with all the goodies, half cage, white center dash, alcantara, race buckets ...... (euro spec im not in the states) for an insane amount of $$$.
But car looks so nice in person, im thinking about getting it. Is it too late to get one, because i heard the new 998 GT3 is coming very soon?? And this 997.2 version aint going to be any cheaper.
Don't wanna pay full sticker if i know the new one is around the corner.
Thanks all.

998 GT3 is still at least 2+ years away in my opinion. You got until maybe Sept 2011 till the new 911 arrives, but they will release the lower models first and go from there. Just look at the 997, it has taken about 5-6 years and now we are just getting the GTS model and Sport Classic models.

Well, not in Evo MS's opinion, in fact. If you wait for the 991 GT3, you will be waiting a very long time. Wouldn't you rather be driving a GT3 RS in that time period?
So no, I believe it is pretty early in the game. Then, if you want to you can enjoy your GT3 RS for a long time, and then get a 991.2 GT3 RS when the time comes sometime in the far future.

not GT3 specifically, but i dont want to be caught with an old model when the new one is out next year.
remember the 996??! it doesnt even come close to the 997.
im sure the next normal model is miles ahead of the old 997, judging by all the money they made and technology improvements. A 997 RS would be just as fast as the next carrera S.
sad but true.

True, but clearly the rs and carrera s are two VERY different cars, regardless of MY.
Were not just talking about straight-line speed here. Go test drive a 996gt3 and a 997s and try to compare them. You can't really.
991 gt3 is at around 2-3 years away, 991 gt3rs is around 3-4 years away. If u can afford taking the hit and dont mind, buy the 997.2rs now. If u do care, pick up a 997.1 gt3 or rs. Less depreciation all while enjoying life...then u can trade it in for the 991rs later...
My 2 cents

John, in that sense/logic, I would wait. The next 911 is close and it will be an impressive car, to be sure. GT versions a little later, but you're right about platform overhauls. 458 to Scud is another example.
I also think paying sticker for an RS seems odd with their supply, but then you are in TW and I have no idea what the market is like. Not a cheap car.

You guys realize that allcations in Europe is vastly different that it is in the US, right? They don't have sprawling lots full cars left over like here in the States.
Get the car, enjoy it now. Or of Porsche does come out with another version, place a deposits and wait and see.
Or do both.
