If you go here and scroll to the bottom, you can see most of the cars.
Porsche 911 (997) GT3 RS Registry - VIN list
Porsche 911 (997) GT3 RS Registry - VIN list

I looked at the list. First one I was looking for in Dallas delivery was posted on the list as "for sale" when it was a car ordered and delivered for a friend of mine. In addition to my VIN not being listed. So the first 2 VIN's that I looked for, they were wrong. List is weak at best in being right.

Porsche 911 (997) GT3 RS Registry -- How Many?
While it is not complete, it at least gives a ballpark of how many RS's there are compared to, say, all variants of the Turbo. The Turbo is not a limited series production car but it isn't exactly the most common car either, so seeing the ratio of the two makes the RS seem more limited.
Btw to the original poster, this registry is not official, it is essentially compiled by a user on other forums - you have to send your information to him and he will put it on the registry. I plan to do so, so that my car will be there and help give more accurate info to buyers. The only way your car would be there is if it was bought second hand, and someone else had listed it beforehand.
It's cool to see a rough history of the car, essentially compiled from forum posts. Kudos to the guy who put this together, while it is not complete it's damn better than nothing at all, and certainly more info than Porsche NA would provide.

Thanks for all the info and comment very helpful. I can only assume that as the UK is much much smaller and Scotland even smaller still there will be very few around relatively speaking. I also have a 997 turbo and it is not exactly common.
Just retruned from my first drive in my friends RS who has lent it to me for the weekend. My intial thoughts are extremely competent road car almost as useable as my turbo which is a surpise (18 degrees and sunny here today mind you). Great sound , real feel of road racer and as fast as any road car needs to be. The car has only covered 160 miles and I have just done 50 in mixed conditons mainly flowing back roads and it definitely compares favourably with any other road cars I have had , Scud , 430 , 599 , 360 CS , Vanquish S etc. It has that hard as nails feel you get in the Scud as well which I like. The familiarity of the interior (basically the same as my turbo) didnt detract for me and looking out over the monster rear wing certainly adds to the feel of something special. Heavier clutch and gear box add to the feel of something more hardcore although may be a chore if in traffic for lengthy periods.
The car is easily as good as anything I have or have had as a road car (I very rarely track my cars) is it as exciting as anything esle I have had? Too early to say but if you like Ferraris then a CS or Scud is more exciting and emotive ride "probably" ! As I say need a few thousand miles on my own car when it comes in November to really tell. There is a very good review between Scud and RS and CS and RS on this site. After a very brief run today (more tomorrow) I would be agree with the comments in both those reviews.
Will post any furthe thoughts after tomorrows blast and a few pictures if time. Grey black with red and decals.
cheers

Not everyone is hyper aware of the cars existance nor is already a previous Porsche owner. Some people who purchase the RS - just became aware of it and then buy it.
This isn't a vacuum we live in.
uh it would be nice if that was true.

Correct. I saw a guy test driving a new RS that knew almost nothing about it. Also, I think it might be partially true that they sell themselves considering last month a dealer near me had 4 Turbo S's, now they have 1 Turbo S, and 3 used 911 Turbos. The reason I say partially is because everyone who bought the Turbo S already had a Turbo.
