CGT Design Flaw??

Kuzi, Big Kudos for keeping this issue in the forefront on those that can afford these dream machines. It is one thing to afford such a work of art and yet another to operate it beyond one's skill level. Kenny

I think blaming the traction control for not being able to correct a driving error, is pretty petty. We are not talking about a Ford Escape here. We have all made silly mistakes while driving, but I am not about to blame a car or its manufacturer for the inability of a "driving assist" to overcome my error.
As a proud owner of a CGT, I will say that this car is one of the least forgiving cars that I have driven. It is also one of the most rewarding. The Carrera GT doesn't have the safety net that most other cars do. It responds as quickly to your inputs as if it were fed impulses from the brain. VERY few cars come close to that sense of feeling.
My suggestion to perspective owners, is not to buy this without giving some serious thought about your driving ability. If you don't feel like you have polished skills when driving a high powered vehicle, stay far away from this car. If you just want to look good, buy another exotic that is fitted with a sequential transmission and a half dozen other electronic driver's aids.
I guess if there is to be a flaw with this car, it is that Porsche made it too good. They made it so sharp and precise that the average person is not skilled enough to drive it effectively. I don't see why the car should be chastised because it takes more skill to drive than others.

Owner told Porsche about an issue with the traction-control system.
Computer doesn't have any faults.
He crashes the car at low speeds.
DESIGN FLAW! Yes, that must be it.
They said the same thing about the 996 GT2 when it came out. "Design flaw", "widow-maker".
And this accident is in no way synonymous with Ben's crash. Ben twitched the wheel at speed to avoid a car coming out of the pits in front of him and went into the grass. Not even close.
I'm with Josh on this one.

" If my info is correct they all crashed because the rear end started coming around and TC did nothing "
Uhhh, that doesn't sound so much like a design flaw, more like a driver flaw...
EDIT: Hadn't read Josh post. Seems bang on.

edit, I take that back, TC should be a linear knob on the wheel/dash to help you gain as much speed in wet conditions, not used as a safety device, but a device to help get rear end traction for max speed in less than ideal conditions

Porsche in general has lighter tc controls restrictions then say an MB. I would expect the GT to be minimal & in a worst case scenario be useless. I haven't owned one/driven one, just saying all my cars have had very different characteristics when driven to the breaking point & in many cases the owners come out lucky...unfortunately bad luck makes for some ugly pictures.
