Dodged a bullet!
boy i shudder to think...
i was supposed to take one of the cars to have the wheel alignment checked yesterday morning. woke up early and it was raining really bad, so decided to stay in instead.
good call as we just got the heaviest rainfall and worst flooding in forty years.
just how bad was it? Hurricane Katrina dumped over an inch of rainfall in Louisiana for 3 hours and another 0.5 inches per hour over the next 5 hours on August 29, 2005. Philippine typhoon 'Ondoy' dumped an average of 2.24 inches per hour for over six hours.
if i'd tried to make it to the alignment shop, i would have been caught in the flash floods, and needless to say, i'd have more to worry about than just the car!
good thing my house is located in a high part of town so didn't get flooded at all. but people less than 10 mins drive from me weren't so lucky. state of calamity over here, over a quarter million people displaced, and no electricity or clean water for many.
we take so many things for granted. life's too short, enjoy what you have!
