The big deal is that the standard brakes are now as big as the PCCBs. And you can get the calipers painted a different color.... for a fee of course.

I can't imagine they have a problem dissipating heat with proper pads, in any setting. Which begs the question: what's the weight difference between standard and PCCB?

I can't find any info about the weight of the PCCB vs steelies but if I had to guess, I'd say around 10-15 lbs per corner. Might not sound like much in relation to the total weight of the car, but keep in mind that by using PCCB's you're reducing unsprung mass, as well as reducing weight that is quite far away from the center of mass. I'm not sure how obvious the weight reduction is in real life driving situations but PCCBs should offer some benefit, if only theoretically.

I have to look in the current issue of Panorama, but it's a huge difference between the stock brakes and the PCCBs as far as weight is concerned.

EDIT: 10.6 lbs lighter per PCCB rotor per corner - Alex gets the prize for a good guess!

Hello from a long-time lurker!
The weight difference between the new brakes is much less than before, as both ceramics and steels have aluminium bells, so the saving comes from the friction disc, not as before from the entire assembly.
I have tried to find the info about the difference for a while now, and could not - Porsche does not even communicate it in its internal, confidential, tech documentation they have given to the sales staff.
Chris, if you could give us a reference to the 10.6lbs data point, I would be most grateful!
best regards,
w

The dimensions of the PCCB have not changed from the 997.1 GT3 but the stock brakes did increase in the front rotors to 380 mm (15") from 350 mm (13.8"). The calipers remain the same using 6P and 4P monoblock Brembos.
Taking into account the unsprung weight equation, a 10.6 lbs weight savings per corner works out to be 31.8 lbs of unsprung weight saving per corner while running the car.
It makes a difference in handling and applied force in braking. Combine this with the lightest wheels possible and you maximize handling, acceleration and braking.

Cheers

Ranger

Found this online while searching. Nothing new though, just PR facts.

The brake system of the 2010 GT3 now include larger discs and an aluminium cover to reduce weight even further. An improvement in brake ventilation guarantees an even higher level of consistent brake power over long periods and hard use.
