MB CPO is it worth it?
Hey guys,
I'm getting rid of my lease in 2 months and will be replacing it with an 07 c230 sport more than likely. I have been able to allocate one like I want, with 16k miles, at a great price (20k flat).
What I'm trying to figure out is whether the CPO warranty is worth it or not. I'm sure many of you have bought CPO Benz's before and some that were not, did you find it to be substantially useful or generate any kind of value come resale time?
If I buy an 07, my standard warranty is 4/50k. If I get it certified I get another 50k miles to burn, but only another year. The way I figure, the car will probably have gone into service sometime in 2006, so at best my CPO warranty will equate to sometime in 2011 or 100k miles (which isn't going to happen). Essentially I will have a warranty for only 2 years which sucks, should I just find one that isn't CPO and negotiate further?
I want peace of mind, which I would also like to pass onto the next owner (should make selling easier in theory) but more than likely it will have expired by then, and the car will probably only have about 50k on it. On the flip side though, I will only be able to work out any problems for 1 year otherwise.
TIA
John

CPO thoughts
A warranty will typically build resale if you intend to do a private sale kind of thing - to a dealer, an extended warranty doesn't seem to matter much.
Also, my 2 cents: if you can afford it, pull the trigger on a 6 cyl.
