Based from what i read, the compressor can go wrong and the air spring itself so thats 2 problems

How many failed on your car?
It's failed once on our S500, It's better replacing the compressor as well if the airsuspension goes wrong because thats next in line to break.

It failed once, both front suspensions failed on me

This was one of the main reasons that I dumped my 04 E500 a few years back. Front drivers side went out at the beginning of the month, and the passenger side went out at the end of the month. Car was out of warranty, and the total cost to the dealership for both was $5K.
