Spied: 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL With AMG Styling Kit

Our Teamspeed spies have shown us quite a few images of the Mercedes GL replacement over the past year, but these are the first shots of the car wearing the AMG styling kit which mimics the look of the powerful GL 63 AMG, without the monster AMG power-plant – and a smaller price tag.

It seems the GL, a wagon/SUV creation, will get front end styling attributes from the current E class. According to reports, the GL will be built on a stretched version of the next generation ML platform. It will feature LED daytime running lights on the bumper and the compact light clusters for the rear taillights will likely be part of the next-generation GL's look as well as a friendlier face for the thuggish-looking GL with a wider grill and a more aerodynamic nose.

Engines will likely still be shared with the ML model, such as the 3.0- and 4.0-litre diesels and the 5.5-litre gasoline/petrol engine all coupled to the brand's 7G-Tronic (7-speed) transmission. A source reports that this next-gen GL is due sometime in late 2012.

 

4 liter diesel? It doesn't exist anymore.

Well I'm just glad it will be a bit bigger. The present Gen. is just way way to small for us Texas folks.

 

Funny that in Europe it's considered too big. People prefer the ML over the GL just because of the size of that thing. Impossible to park at many times.
