stock SL55 lowering

my car sits 3.2" high
i would like it to sit at 1.6"

can that be achieved by the stock set-up programming?
zero care for a rougher ride (it is welcome), but i wish to learn if any problems will ensue elsewhere

experiences?

Easiest way to get it done safely and have control over the height easily is a RENNTech lowering module. Once installed you can hookup your laptop or RENNtech's tablet/remote and adjust the height to your desired setting. Don't forget an alignment after if you are riding low 100% of the time.

Here is the link to the item for you;

Post pictures when you get it done!

thanks Jay but i seriously need to STOP spending and i cannot afford this at the moment. i did some research at MBworld and found that those modules are very popular in the states.

wouldn't lowering it on the stock set-up work?
my primary goal is not aesthetic, but to have a firmer grip and less body roll

i imagine dropping it 1.6" (to sit at 1.6") should be manageable stock

yes? no? problematic?
THANKS AGAIN rep when i can sir

The only way to lower that vehicle on the stock setup(computer) is to find a Mercedes technician or dealership with the STAR diagnostic tool and have them lower it with that tool. They can only lower to a certain point before the height rod's need to be adjusted so the computer sees the height it wants to and stays at the proper lowered height. Takes lots of labor and some places won't even touch it with the STAR as they don't know how to do it properly.

I did this for a friend of mine who didn't have the cash for the module at the time, by the time he paid for an MB tech to lower it with the computer and labor to change the height sensors, he spent almost 70% of the Renntech module without being able to control his own height at a later date. Wasn't worth it in my eyes and now he regrets it as when we go to the track he cannot lift his rear to fit big drag radial's under.

I know, I'm in the same boat, too much money on cars But if it was my personal vehicle or any of my customers cars, I would tell them to hold off until they could purchase the Renntech module as it is really worth it compared to hacking up the stock height rod's and messing with the modules for hours on end. BTW the Renntech module uses all stock suspension, just integrates with the computers to control the actual height.

Do you track the vehicle or are you looking for better street grip/body roll? I know its not much cheaper but this REALLY helps to put the power of the 55K motor to the ground and make the rear end a lot more stable;

Whatever route you go, wait it out for the right parts, don't cheap out on these cars or you will end up with sub-par products throwing check engine lights and causing you more headaches then enjoyment.
