Mercedes to offer awd CL500 4MATIC this summer
Mercedes has announced that it is planning on a four-wheel-drive version of the CL500 due for launch later this summer in the UK. To be called the Mercedes-Benz CL500 4MATIC, the car will be powered by the same V8 engine produce 388 horsepower mated with the most updated version of Benz’s four-wheel-drive system.
Mercedes says that since its 4MATIC system is the lightest of its breed, weighing in at just 154 pounds, the fuel-economy of the CL500 won’t be affected as much. Both the base and the 4MATIC will have near the same fuel-economy at 23mpg.
The CL500 4MATIC will go from 0-62 in 5.4 seconds, 0.1 seconds faster than the rwd model, and will have an electronically limited speed of 155mph.
It’ll probably be the hottest all-wheel-drive coupe on the market. No word on whether Mercedes will offer the model on the stateside.

DJ, its a terrific car and the 550 engine is fantastic but doesnt suite the cars very heavy weight. I drove the 500 dubbed "550" in the States, the 63 AMG and the 600 V12 TT. I felt the 63 was lacking and less grunty than the old CL55K W215 but If I was in the position of getting a new W216 CL it would be a 600 and add some very subtle yet elegant carlsson or brabus exterior enhancements and a good tune to be a fast sleeper and a daily driver.
