We have a S54 M Roadster at work, it's solid.

I'd consider a BMW in every class, I think they are great cars. The cars that I could see myself purchasing: 135 coupe, 335i/ci, M3 sedan/coupe, 550i/M5, and the previous generation X5 4.8.

I don't think I'd want a new X5 4.8, it's a ton of money for a car that's supposed to be utilitarian, and I never have gotten comfortable in them, I'd rather be in a Cayenne. However, the previous generation 4.8's are such hooligans, they can tow a boat, and sound and look great! The X3 is a great car, but it can't tow, is still pretty small, and not a HP heavy hitter.

No boat, I'd get a white 550i loaded, probably BMW's best all around car. With a dog and a boat, I'd save the cash, and get a CPO'd 2005/2006 X5 4.8is and be very happy.

'02 325i (my then girlfriend, now wife totaled it)
'05 325i (traded it in, aka took a beating on it)
'05 325ci (still have it, gone by March 2009)

I would really like to get the new M5 as a daily driver, maybe next summer. I have a guy from Nigeria willing to wire me a lot of money since he has to hide it from his government, sounds really lucrative! If that goes through I might be in an M5 this month!

I'm suprised how many times the S54 Z3 M Coupe has popped up on people's want list!

'01 740i sport. (still have)

Love the E38 and E39. If I ever have the chance to buy an Alpina B12 I might have to jump on it. Not sure if they are legal in the states though.
