Hey guys! I thought everyone would like to see some of these - I was on assignment with BMWBlog.com for the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. Some of the highlights were the 1 M Coupe unveiling as well as the 6 Series Convertible.

However, most important to me was the ability to speak with Dr. Kay Segler, President of BMW M GmbH, at length about the 1 M Coupe and the reasons behind the car. Those lucky enough to get one should be very satisfied - he said the 1 M Coupe is "an M3 Competition Package squeezed into a 1 Series."

Also, apparently the 1 M Coupe was presented to him in Valencia Orange(as seen here) and they loved it so much they kept it as the launch color.

Other important moments were when some of our crew had the chance to speak directly with Adrian Van Hooydonk, head of BMW Design, about the cut lines of the 6 Series as well as the entire model range. BMWBlog will have more content on the show (in addition to the many we've already posted) but I wanted to share some pictures here. I shot a lot of them with my D90 but then there could be a few mixed in here that your moderator MTechnik took for us of BMW's display at the show - he was also a tremendous help in our show coverage and worked with me to interview Dr. Segler. Thanks again Misha!

I took about 2,500 shots - also, we have the video below that we cut on the morning of the launch of the 1 M Coupe(hence the rough appearance of the video - we did it in about 20 minutes).

Great photos Andrew! The 1M rocks!

I had a great time with you, Horatiu, Hugo, and Shawn at the show. Getting to chat with some of the top brass from BMW like Dr. Segler was a memorable experience.

 

They've played their cards right with the Z4, they need to give it the M power treatment.

I am eager to see how the M6 will look, I've heard that the M5 comes out this summer.
