New BMW owner looking for tips
#24
Ive been looking around, and obviously there are not a lot of mods for these E38 cars, but does anyone know a good place to maybe get some mods for the car? I was looking at Dinan, but holy hell... upgrade anything and it seems it needs a computer flash to go with it. I mostly just want to see if there are any reputable CAI systems out there or maybe even an exhaust, that doesn't cost $5k...

Congrats on the '01 740i sport. I have the same car, mine is Orient Blue. Hopefully this isn't frowned upon but here is a forum that will have everything you need for your 740,

Anything and everything you need to know about your car is on there. If you have any question please feel free to ask. I am positive that I have fixed(paid someone to fix) just about everything that tends to fail on these sevens. If you like doing your own work on cars, the 740 is ridiculously easy to work on for most things, it is all of those sensors and modules that make diagnosis difficult. Read through the "common problems and fixes" thread on the forum I posted above, it will probably answer any question you have. Also, get ready to buy a bunch of tires, this heavy car loves to tear them up and since they are different size front and rear you don't get to rotate them.
