as a consumer, i wouldn't consider the X6 a true SUV. and this is an estate in a different (uglier) form. i don't get it.

Waaait a minute! You're applying logic right now, aren't you?!?

In the same issue of Car as I've previously mentioned, there's also an editorial by one of the staff writers who's long-terming an X6, and he calls himself "The most hated man in Britain", seeing as the X6 is "not a car for 'now', and the British public hates it".
I think we're encountering a schizm between the TeamSpeeders (enthusiasts) and the public at large. We might not consider the X6 an SUV, but the general public could very well conceive it as very offensive vehicle. Keyword being conceive; nothing to do with actual properties. Absolutely no offense to you, Mr. Kram.
