I definitely agree, the car will be getting euro bumpers in its future. Right now however, since i will be selling my e46, i need to make sure that this car is in tip top shape.
I might actually do a motor upgrade. The e28 has the M30B34 motor, changing the head will actually make it a M30B35 which has slightly more power. Both motors are virtually bulletproof since they run such a low compression (i believe its something like 8 to 1). This is also bad* news because the motor LOVES boost. The M30 engine also has the longest production run of ANY bmw engine. The other cool thing about this car is it weighs about 2800 lbs, from what ive been able to find so far.
It drives like a dream, i had it up to 110mph while on the snows. Admittedly it wasnt the smartest thing for me to do especially since i was driving on the previous owners plates.
First Upgrade will be suspension. I think im going to go with a Koni/Eibach setup.
*Bad in a good way.

Don't know about E28, but E30 conversion to Euro bumper is really a pain, which is why it's not included in my E30 restore project.

Agreed, the Euro conversion can be difficult and time-consuming -- lots of cutting and welding once you track down the right pieces.
On a different note, no reason you can't work in the M5 direction yourself! I see you're upgrading the suspension, that's a good start
