Kicking around the idea of getting a used Mini CS.

Any problem years to stay away from?

What about typical problems to keep an eye out for?

Dave: They really are fun cars. I know that isn't exactly what you're looking for, but I must say I enjoy the latest years the most because they switched from the supercharged motor to a turbo setup. My understanding is they are putting more than their factory stated HP out, and when driving them, I believe it. The turbo setup really gives it a fun power delivery, and they do move. Not sure what your intended use is, but my one major gripe was the car needs a limited-slip (which is an available factory option).

Every time I've driven one I have gotten out thinking it would be a really fun DD. Good luck!

Thanks guys, been searching on NAM, autotrader, CL, ebay, etc. Lots of minis out there. Looking at 05/06 model years mostly.

 

Do it! You will not regret! I try drive my Mini as much as I can.

 

I would go with 07+. Previous years have the S/C setup, a little smaller in dimensions, and the ride is harsher than the R56 (07+). As far as the typical problems; melting hood scoop comes to mind, and some-what glitchy windows that need to be re programed by the dealer. Otherwise I'm enjoying mine (I haven't experienced those issues).

Thanks guys, I failed to find one this time that I liked. Got a built Mustang believe it or not. Those were the two cars I was looking for. Minis and Mustangs. Sporty, fun DD, back seats for kids, economical to purchase. I know what I want now for a Mini next time, and I'll be looking before too long. Thank you for all your advice, much appreciated.
