^^^Yeah, I can't for the life of me figure out how that would cause an accident... Seems ridiculous.

Indeed. If that causes you to get in an accident then maybe you shouldn't have been driving in the first place. I've never been distracted by fog lights, high beams - sure, fog lights.. I don't even notice them.

What is the big difference between fog lights and the now-standard daylight lamps?

I guess basically every non-Xenon fog light is less of a disturbance for other drivers than the LED-Bling-Bling stuff which every Audi has today at all times...

And secondly, you get blinded about 5 million times every day by aftermarket xenon bulbs pointing in every f-cking direction other than where it's intended, but you occaaaaasionally come across someone every other week -if you're actually looking for them- with their fog lights on, usually pointing down into the road because, well, that's what fog lights do.

Douchey? Absolutely. Causing accidents? Feck off. If you get distracted by something that isn't actually distracting, please have your license revoked. Thank you.

+1.

HIGHLY unlikely those statistics are even remotely accurate. Its all bullshit and for what, exactly? control?

laughable.

My take is that the researchers needs to say something to justify the grant money they got...

Think this is bollox but its a roaduser aware tactic
to get it into the news that its illegal to have fog lights on when no fog.

Mostly the younglings tend to do this - or have got a point to prove.

I have upgraded my fogs to white leds to match my angels - but I only put them on when its foggy

contary to popular belief - UK is not foggy all the time !

I could see how rear fog lights might cause accidents as you might be trying to avoid looking at them when not needed and you so you miss someone stopping suddenly ..

the thing is, most cars do NOT have actual "fog" lights- they're not amber, they're white light; Thus they're driving lights - and on small country or not well lit roads, work fantastic to fill in the space below the headlights and to the sides of the car- just in case any little critter decides to do a 'death by car' move...

Didn't you read the Ministry of Truth press release? They hired an army of bureaucrats to watch all of the video from all their CCTV cameras and instructed them to watch for near misses caused by fog lights.

Big Brother, keeping safety up and unemployment down!
