It seems every car company is doing a crossover vehicle to expand their portfolio.

Alfa Romeo is no different, and in its full scale return to the US, it plans to bring with it a crossover, based on what it calls the Compact US Wide platform.

Seen here is a rendering of what the Alfa crossover could look like, based on the current styling scheme.

Under the bonnet, expect the Alfa Romeo CXover to use the 260 bhp V6 from the Brera, with torque sensing differentials getting the power to the ground. Because it’s not a dedicated off-roader, don’t expect low range to be part of its arsenal.

Some info indicates that it will use air suspension with automatic ride height control, and if so it may imbue good handling for its size and weight.

Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Fiat S.p.A. and Chrysler Group, says Alfa Romeo will be in the United States in full swing by 2013.
