no idea what regulations in aussie is like but an old 996 would def be within your price range. the only thing you need to worry about is insurance. i'm under my parents so the insurance is alot cheaper than if i pay as a standalone.

Restrictions on Ps : VicRoads
The legislation is changing what seems like daily, so by the time you get your licence in five years, I'd say they're going to just about have a 'control' car that all P-platers must drive.
