You should be able to get a 2003/2004 Sl55 for just a little north of $40k.

They're very reliable and very fast out of the box. Plenty of room inside and in the trunk or hatch, for a sports car.
Of all the cars I own, the Viper is the most fun overall. Give it the beans in any gear at any speed and it just goes.

Yes, or a SRT-10 for around ~45 with some miles on it.

Other guys like the swoopy 2nd gen's more.
I'd say take both for a spin and see what tickles you.

(you can also find used ones that are really nice... dunno if my friend sold his, but he's gone all out on all aspects (suspension, wheels, bbk, kits, interior, ect.) , other than keeping the stock plenum and only vortech'ing it as far as FI goes, for like 35k?) they're quite roomy... I know a dude who's 6'4" who drives one...

The SRT-10's (3rd gen) are nicer driving cars, and unlike the earlier roadsters, have meaningful rollover protection. That said, a blue '96 GTS is teh sex and has been on my list of wants for a while.
