Street Racing Goes Bad - Crash
A word from the owner of the 1998 Camero Z28: Because of this accident, I ended up being sentenced to 120 days in jail, two years of probation, and 100 hours of community service. The driver of the Mustang was sentenced to six months of prison among other things. I do not recommend illegal street racing to anyone. It is highly dangerous. My life has been affected by this since it happened, which has been almost three years now. Keep it off of the street guys please.

They weren't even racing, just driving fast like idiots on a crowded street.

Umm....that looked like a street race to me. And technically, any "speed contest" will qualify as a street race under the law. Those dumbasses are lucky they didn't kill anyone else, much less themselves.

Judging by the brief shot of the speedo and rate of acceleration, they were doing 60-70 on what is probably a 40-50 mph 4-lane road. Idiot in the crown vic played follow the leader with the truck in front of it and caused the accident.

Either there's a whole lot more to the story, or they got railroaded with some pretty dubious charges.

All sorts of idiots out there, but that was pretty far from anything I would consider reckless.

Is THIS the same as the original link?

2 guys racing, they manage to run over the flagger...

Everyone makes stupid mistakes. But racing on a crowded street is not stupid, it's asinine. Being negligent of what the consequences of your actions cause is reason enough for you to be at partial fault. If it wasn't intended it does not change that it happened. Man up to what happened.
