Renault 5 Turbo - another one of my favorites
Is there anything better than a rally homologation? You take an outrageous race car, whose only purpose is to be crazy fast, and you make as few changes to it as possible and just unload it onto the open market - not becuase you want to, but becuase you have to.
I give you, the Renault 5 Turbo. And what a Turbo car it is - you may need to use a calendar to measure how long it takes for the turbos to spool up. And the wide body kit looks like someone just took a hammer to the fenders, becuase that's exactly what they did in order to feed air into the mid engined awesomeness behind you.
I really only need 4 cars in my life to be happy. An older Porsche RS (check), a Delta Integrale (soon enough), an UrQuattro (eventually) and this (hopefully one day).
And there might just be a mint one for sale somewhere right now, but I'll leave that to someone else. Wink wink . . .

One of my friends from high-school had 3 of these at one time. Two Turbo2s and one Maxi. The Maxi was insanity, it never drove straight, EVER. Once you got on it, the back would be way out and you had to stand on it or it would spin. It was always a war with that car.
The Turbo2s were also pretty fast by '80s standards (he still has 1 of them, but its got electrical problems), but manageable on the street. If you get past how much of a pain it is to drive on the street, they're fun little cars.
Funny you mention the Integrale, he just bought one out of Canada and drove it down to Los Angeles. It's a cool car, and way easier to drive than the R5 Turbo.
