Ariel Atom 3 Is "Awesomeness That Defies All Classification"

Very interesting article from autoblog.com.

Now, with the engine started and humming at idle, everything is as you'd expect from a well-sorted Honda K-series powerplant. Hit the gas, though, and all hell breaks loose thanks to our tester's $7,171 supercharger option, which boosts output from 245 naturally aspirated horsepower to an even 300. If that doesn't seem like a ton of force, consider that the Atom weighs in at just 1,350 pounds. For the math averse among us, that equals (carry the one, move the decimal) just 4.7 pounds per pony – proof that fun and fear can co-exist.

I think this would make for a very fun and fast rally.

Yes please! It looks a bit silly with a windscreen now though. What did they change from the frist two versions? They all seem the same to me.

Great cars. I went to visit the factory in Somerset, UK. Only eight cars are built at a time, one man a car. Great goup of guys there and very helpful. Hopefully one day would love to own one. The american spec cars have front splitters and big rear wings that really make it look more like a single seater f1 car!

They are not street legal in all states but definitely are street cars in some states such as CA.
I could see getting one of these one day just as a track car. Very cool.

The video of Clarkson driving an Atom is great:
