BTW, I can't believe this hasn't been mentioned yet, but ... yeah ... snow tires.

 

i'd like to apologize to JOX, as a new comer i did not intend this to be a dumb thread, i was just thinking out-loud, i guess i should just get some a damn snow wheel/tire set up, thanks everyone to contributing and sorry if it came across as a pointless thread

Not to reiterate, I have owned, on snows, in Wisconsin as DD, three M3's, two C class AMG's, a 650cic, a CLK, 330cic, C220, ummm you get the point. Snows and you will have no issues. Welcome to TS dude! We can be a sarcastic group at times but a really great group of enthusiasts.

 

In some countries, by the end of december you have to have snow tires or you get towed or ticketed.

 

I drive an Infiniti G37S coupe which, like your CLS, is RWD. Ironically I also have Potenzas on and the snow here in St louis doesn't give me any trouble. Granted, there's never more than 2-3" on the road, but still.. I haven't felt the need to get winter tires (probably because I don't have anywhere to store the summer tires) and I think you'd probably be ok if NYC is decent at clearing the roads.

Also, at your OP, I'm pretty sure CLS 55 AMGs are priced about the same as the GTR is.. ~$85k?
