BTW is it ironic to anyone that a country where the car will not even fit on the streets bought the company
You are mistaken mainland China would make good use of this car. We aren't talking about Hong Kong here. Most of China is vastly rural.

I wouldn't say the current Hummer is by any means that good of quality. It looks cool, but far from a high quality SUV. It's probably going to get worse in quality with China taking over, but than again maybe they need to prove a point to make something better that we did.

I wouldn't write off Hummer just yet. If Sichuan Tengzhong were just interested in pumping out crap, low-cost SUV's, why fork out for an existing brand, and two manufacturing plants? Surely it's not for a lack of manufacturing capability in China when it comes to exactly that kind of product. I know that Tata's acquisition of Jag and Land Rover is fairly recent, and that we haven't seen the long-term consequences of that sale just yet, but so far, it seems that those two brands are doing fine. Hopefully, this will turn out well, but I'm fairly curious to see what will happen now.
