If ford was only smart enough to have these types of cars available in the US they wouldn't be in the current mess with GM and Chrysler

I totally agree. I wonder what could be stopping them?

They basically were short-sighted and didn't expect any US demand for their small/fuel-efficient Euro cars, so they isolated the production facilities in Europe and disregarded any future need to transfer the tech. into a different spec. So when the demand came, and the demand for their US models, dropped, they couldn't make the cars in the US because they didn't have the production means, and they couldn't export them because they would need drastic modifications.

With all due respect, you're wrong. The US govt told Ford N.A. they better increase the mpg in their full-size SUV's or go bankrupt.

Great video! I thought the mall scene was outrageous, then the "Is it green?" question had me , followed by a BEACH ASSAULT! I'm surprised it made it out of the water.

The major reason that the 65 mpg Fiesta ECOnetic wasn't imported is that its MSRP would be $25,700. A typical Prius sold for $24,000. It wouldn't have been profitable.
