I use Dropbox to get files between my computer and the iPad. Very easy and it plays most of the files from within too. I believe also that if you could use iCloud to transfer files between computers too. I think it's automatic on a macbook pro, etc..not sure about PC's.

No idea about the prices and where to get them. They're about $829 USD for the iPad 64 GB 3G + WiFi version and $700 without the 3G.
