once I figure out what to do with my current 52" Samsung first gen Local Dimming LED TV...

Pionneer did a really great job since this thing must have so many local dimming zones and the grids must be quite small for blooming to be pretty much non existent.

Blooming happens when you have one object that is smaller than the backlit LED element moving from one grid to another.

Basically, Pioneer uses the Sharp glass, but put in their own local dimming LED system, AND the TV's are pre-calibrated!

Having seen both this and the SONY's local dimming HX929, this is far and away a much better TV, with a much higher price tag to match too.

Must have this TV.

They just released these bab boys, so probably no deal right now.

You are aware that Pioneer only licensed the "Elite" name to Sharp, but Panasonic got the technology?

 

I saw the new Elite's at the CEDIA show this year and they were very impressive. Makes my old Elite look so dated now.

This is not a Sharp TV, since Sharp doesn't do local dimming LED.

You should look into this more.

 

I love this thing! Looks great and would make a good theater setup.....I'd really like to see where you are putting this thing.....tell me it isn't a 15x20 room or some thing

 

70 is too large for the room where my current 50 hangs --- but maybe a 60 would be cool? Thanks for sharing this.

 

lol at anyone thinking lcd will have better blacks or truer color than plasma at this point in time. They are good, but not as good as plasma. Anybody that says otherwise is misinformed.
