For most applications, a proper local dimming LED backlit LCD TV is a much better tool for the job than a plasma. You don't have to worry about ambient lights, and you sure don't have to worry about leaving a Word document up for too long.

And speaking of misinformed, how about your claim that this TV is a mere relabel of a Sharp TV?

Nah, come on, get the 70. No such thing as too big a TV like too much HP in a car, eh?

That's beautiful, we just got the 70 sharp LC-70LE735U and we're loving it. I can't imagine how good this thing is, no arguing Panasonic is right at the top as far as tv's go.

Pionneer did a really great job since this thing must have so many local dimming zones and the grids must be quite small for blooming to be pretty much non existent.

Blooming happens when you have one object that is smaller than the backlit LED element moving from one grid to another.

Basically, Pioneer uses the Sharp glass, but put in their own local dimming LED system, AND the TV's are pre-calibrated!

Having seen both this and the SONY's local dimming HX929, this is far and away a much better TV, with a much higher price tag to match too.

Must have this TV.

Elite LCD TV - Simply the Finest HDTV Experience
This is not a Pioneer TV. It is a Sharp TV. Sharp licensed the ELITE brand from Pioneer.

That said, Sharp has done an amazing job with the ELITE brand. This is not a rebadged TV, it is a completely unique product designed to the highest standards. The best TV Sharp has made, and probably the best LCD tv ever. I'm thinking of buying this tv soon too. Was waiting to see some user reviews.

My 46" Pioneer 1080p Plasma is still the best TV I have ever bought.

The link below confirms that this TV is made by Sharp and that the ELITE brand belongs to Sharp. It also says that Sharp is Pioneers largest shareholder and that TV was a joint collaboration between the two. It also confirms there is a lot of Sharp technology in this TV.

Sharp revives Elite TV brand (Pioneer TV owners sigh)

The glass is made at the Kameyama facility, owned by Sharp.

But, the local dimming system in use in this TV is not a Sharp deal. Sharp has no local dimming in any of their TV.

I don't have the data on how many elements are there, but there must be a huge loads of them, because blooming is vritually undetectable. Blooming test is easy to do on local dimming sets by showing the end credit of any movie. The scolling will cause most sets without a lot of elements to bloom like crazy.

We compared the Samsung 81F and the Pioneer FHD1 4 years ago, and went with the 81F since it's about 80% of the FHD1 picture quality, but with none of the plasma drawbacks.

Not a bad choice at all.

As for the Plasma drawbacks, I still have a Gears Of War ammo HUD burned into the upper right hand corner.
