Crap
Thinkpad weighs a lot but all of you guys think it's great reliability
Macbook Air is pretty darn cool all about the size
Sony Vaio I can get a purple one
Asus looks too new for me.

I give.

Jox you asked "people still use PC's" do you mean besides MacBook's?

Asus looks too new? What do you mean?

If you mean the company looks too new, they are actually the worlds #1 motherboard manufacturer with a 40% market share.

Ok I've been talked into either
Macbook Pro 15" (going to apple store tomorrow to view it)
or
Thinkpad T510(I think that's the name)

Both priced the same but I believe the Apple fits my needs more.

I'll post asap

thanks for all the input guys

Ok if I go with this Apple product

Will I gain enough going from 4GB to 8GB of memory?

Will I notice the difference between 2.66ghz and 2.8ghz?

right off the shelf they have a 4gb with 2.66ghz and a 500gb HD

It's a matter of waiting and like $600 bucks

Buy the least memory they offer, then I will stop at Fry's on my way to see you next and we can max it out for about $100. For what you are doing I don't think you will see a big difference between 2.66 and 2.8. I would go for what they have off the shelf. It will be smoking fast and like I said, memory upgrade is a 5min upgrade.

If you're like my wife, who uses a laptop like a desktop but doesn't want a desktop (ie. portability isn't high on your priority list), and if weight and heat doesn't bother you much, get a Sager.

custom gaming laptops - Welcome to Sager Notebooks

Pricey, yes. Loud, yes. But they are basically desktop internals custom built for a laptop. A Sager is a laptop you won't need to replace every couple years. Good warranty options, and they are under new management and eager to please. If you call, talk to Frank.

sorry I should have updated this. my wife bought me a macbook pro 15" for Christmas.

I went with the suggestions and bought the store model and BuzzedHornet promised to update it further for much cheaper

Thanks guys I will let you know what I think about it in a few weeks.
