I LOVE my EVO, except for one massive flaw.

I HATE the email app. Perhaps someone has a fix...
1. I cannot do a large, "mark all read" type of function.
2. I do not get emails that I have assigned to specific folders in my outlook. e.g.: I have a folder assigned to my buddy at work, and a rule that states that all email from him goes to this folder. It will never hit my phone.

I think you will run into this issue with any mail system where the folders have rules to pull those emails off the server and store them locally on the hard drive. You may need to make and sync additional folders on the email server. I skirt this issue by using gmail and labels, so all of my messages stay on gmail, and I have found the gmail app to be better than the native app (which may differ by manufacturer). However, even there, I don't think there is a blanket "Mark all as read" function, I have to check the boxes next to the email and can only perform mass archive/delete after applying the check boxes.

My android email use is drastically simplified since I cannot use my work email on my phone and had all of my personal stuff previously in gmail.

So does everyone's battery go quickly? What's the story on battery life with these things? I've got wifi and gps all off and it still needs to be charged more than daily.

I will add I'm on it a chunk because I'm new to it and still trying to set the little crap up

That was my gripe until I got the task killer app, free and a MUST, now I have no problem. I have to charge every night for sure but I get through the day fine and am on it a lot.

I added task killer to see what happens. Do you run it on Auto-kill or just go in every once in a while and run it? BTW wasn't free last night I don't believe.

The task killer thing helps a lot -- don't know about the one on the market, but the pre-installed one I have works great for me. The battery life improves after a week or two, do a few full charges (charge down to 15% or less then 100% without use) and it should get a lot better. My Captivate (Galaxy S) went from 6 hours battery life with no GPS/Wifi on to around 15-18 hours with wifi on constantly.

I love Android, though the Captivate is my first smartphone, and I don't have anything to compare it to other than the phones I've seen or read reviews of. Bloomberg is a great app, as well as Vlingo and gStrings (not what you think it is, )

Yeah the battery goes quickly if not managed. As far as task killers, people do not recommend running auto kill for tasks anymore as the phones have enough memory and can manage it better, but I hit the widget a few times a day just to purge stuff out and close apps that I forgot were still open. It does help with battery life. The other thing you should do is go look in Settings -> About Phone -> Battery -> and see which applications are using the battery. Normally it will be display, android os, etc as the heavy hitters, but you may have some stray app/widget that is a memory/battery killer.

The battery check through me for a bit. With the Pro you have to hold down on the battery icon in battery manager. Before task killer it was display than Android now after my Android dropped to 3% of use like 6th on the list.

I am just learning apps so I will take it slow
