Comcast vs. Verizon Fios

Does anyone know if one service is better than the other? I know it's a pretty general question, but my mother in law is trying to figure out which one is best.

J-

I've had both here in southern MD. Verizon FiOS is better than Comcast in this region hands down in terms of the actual product. TV signal quality is better, internet bandwidth is simply no contest, etc. Verizon is a little weak on customer service, but that's something you can deal with. It does take 4-6 hours to complete a Verizon FiOS install at your house though, so those rumors are true.

Awesome, thanks. I was leaning towards Fios after comparing the two online.

im in baltimore and fios is WAY better than comcast here too. internet much faster, way more channels, and the hd is clearer. all in all, im very impressed, especially now that ive gotten used to all the numbers for the channels. cant comment on home phone service because i dont have one. in regards to customer service, i had a faulty fios box and they overnighted me a new one which i thought was great service although it did require a half hr conversation

Cool, seems like Fios is pretty good then.

From what I've read about Comcast, they do not offer any true HD channels. They are all highly compressed. Additionally, Comcast rations bandwidth and actually blocks certain types of usage.
