Comcast now offering 16Mbs

Comcast in bay area is now offering 16Mbs download and 2Mbs upload. It's the same price as their previous 8Mbs tier.

Useless. They will throttle you if you attempt to use half of that.

I've been on their premium package for years now (currently @ 8mbps). My downloads average well over 1MB/sec, all the time. Never had a problem with throttling and comcast. The 768kbps upload has always sucked porcupine balls though. So I'll be happy to see the 2mbps upload.

Actually I'm more excited about the 2Mbs upload. Doing web work I sometimes upload thousands of pages to a webserver and when I had dsl at 384K it really sucked.

Damn I'm jealous. Out in the boonies my choices are dialup, satellite (had it for years... awful), and T1 (what I have now, $550/month for 1.4 both up and down) -- it's a business write-off but still expensive.

No cable, no DSL out here...
