The countdown has officially begun for the arrival of the year's most anticipated video game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, in stores Nov. 10.

Intel points to an unprecedented campaign. "By all indicators, we anticipate Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be the biggest entertainment launch of all time," says Tony Bartel, executive vice president for merchandising and marketing at GameStop. "As of today, the number of pre-order reservations we've taken for the game is the highest for any title we've ever sold in our 6,200 store network."

GameStop is just one of several retailers planning late-night sales events. More than 2,600 of Walmart's 24-hour stores will have supplies of the game ready to sell at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday. The first 20 customers at those locations get an autographed game cover signed by the Infinity Ward development team, too.

Meanwhile, Amazon is searching for the Call of Duty-est town in America. The city that has the most preorders could win a $5,000 donation to a local charity. Go here for information.
