Need Help - Digital Music Player

Have been using two Sony ES 555 400 cd players with a macportable as a controller. Was a little clumsy but did download titles etc.

Old portable has now died. I am trying to decide what to do. Don't want to buy a new computer just for running the cd players.

Two options I have found:
Opus #4 by Olive
cd player with 1TB HD, and can distribute to other devices, very high end audio it appears, no good handheld interface
OLIVE | SAVE THE SOUND. - PRODUCTS - OPUS4 - OVERVIEW

Sonos Multiplayer
Distributed data sharing via a distinct wifi network, great interface, but audiophile quality seems absent, plus ripped data stored on one of my computers, now how do I maintain low and full res copies of music on same drive (files for ipod, versus lossless for home)
Sonos - ZonePlayer 90

If anybody has an comments, insight or alternatives, I'd love to hear them. Thanks.

I would get Sonos, I have been using mine for a while now and with the new iPhone/iPod touch control it is the easiest system to use.

do you output directly to a preamp, or output to a dac? Or are you using their amp combo?

I have a fairly decent amp and speakers, and don't want to lose sound quality in this transition.

I have my ZP80 connected directly to my Classe SSP-800, I have done test against a Classe CD player and Sonos and you really can not tell a difference. Also all of my music is in lossless along with using Sirius and Rhapsody.
