what about the optional lithium-ion battery (on certain 911 models)?

I've had my f430 since 2007 and never had any battery issues UNTIL I used the trickle charger. As soon as I decided to plug it in, tried to start it a week or so later, dead. While the car was in the UK in storage, trickle charger on, come to start it, battery dead. The thing you have to remember is, the trickle charger doesnt charge the battery, it only keeps it charged at its optimum, so if your battery is not fully charged, or is close to the end of its life, I feel like it almost drains it??? What I understood from my experience, is not to use the trickle charger at all, and just use the car every now and then. In the early days of ownership, I used to come back from a 5 week vacation, start it up first try, and enjoy driving, no issues.
For my Dad's 612, we've had since 2006, never used the trickle charger, and "touch wood" no issues mashallah. Bear in mind also it is rarely driven, I think the mileage is close to 7000kms.
Modern Ferraris are reliable bro, if I'm honest I think we baby them too much and thats when they go wrong

These are not battery problems. Its a sign of a poorly thought out electrical system. All the dealer did during that "15" minute fix the first time was reset the computers a bunch of times. Your best bet is not to have the car constantly plugged into the wall. These cars need to be driven as often as possible. Ferrari's that sit for prolonged time periods or go out for short cruises to Starbucks have the most problems.

Thanks guys for all your valuable feedback. Car is at dealers now being checked - was told it may be a fuel pump issue. But the battery draining sounds like a fair assumption too. Just like over-charging a laptop I guess and constantly keeping it plugged into the wall when the battery is already at 100% will wear and drain out the battery capacity.
Lets see. I told them if not ready before the long weekend to arrange a car - they said they will try and give me another Ferro lol. Lets see. Will keep this thread updated though.

FYI - typically cars run off the alternator once the engine is started. Having problems while driving (e.g. lack of power, stalling, etc.) are rarely battery related issues.
For your scenario the first things that come to mind are:
- Computer / spark control (lack of ignition)
- Fuel filter / pump (lack of or drop in fuel pressure)
- Clogged cat / exhaust (pressure restriction)
Good luck with the Rx at the dealer. I would recommend not settling for the tech guessing what is wrong, but rather reading the computer codes and doing a physical check on the mechanical s to confirm.

.......they do weight 25 lbs less than the standard battery
